It's been 10 years yet I still feel the pain
of the fleeting moments trapped inside the eye
I thought I found my successor
but the blinding truth of the wise one turning fool
I am left here to contemplate my life
Although I knew all the answers
My soul still ignored the thing I could not see
when the portrait I gazed upon was clear as day
All that's left is the turmoil
the hatred, violence and catastrophes
of the great ones who thought themselves above it all
Still I find myself, longing for the past, yet I'll never find my way alone

In pursuit of distractions, to ease my own ennui
I'm forced to be a child in my mind
Barefoot in an empty lot
strewn with shards of glass,
I realize the things we left behind
I need to call on all my strength to get me to the day,
where I won't be afraid on my own
Flesh and blood and delicate, I used to be so strong,
and I'll never find my way all alone.
I tried so hard to sanitize, and drink myself to sleep,
because I didn't want to be all alone alone
